For context, I work at a high end retail store in a major US city. There are several other locations all over. We can accept returns regardless of how long ago they were purchased and regardless of what location they were originally purchased at, it’s a very forgiving return policy. Without a receipt, we can do an exchange. I don’t want to go into detail, but it is NOT a clothing / bag store or anything like that where someone could wear it with the tags on and bring it back the next week.
Every single week for a year now, this woman comes in with a couple items to return. The first time we met her, she was making a return for a few items purchased at another location. We gave her the money back on one transaction and she proceeded to buy a bunch more stuff on a separate transaction. The next week she comes back to return everything she purchased during her previous visit, and proceeds to buy more things. She comes back the next week, returns what she purchased during the last trip, buys more stuff. It’s a never ending cycle of return, new purchase, return the new purchase the next week.
Every single time she makes a return the product is still in its original packaging, sealed, pristine, and not tampered with or used in the slightest.
I cannot wrap my head around what she could possibly be doing by making serial returns like this. I thought maybe it was a mix of buyers remorse / spending addiction, however she has pulled other stunts on us that we solved quickly so I imagine this returning cycle is also somehow nefarious. It’s also worth mentioning that she is extremely anxious around us, brings up corporate policy a lot, and is very unpleasant towards the staff.
Let me know what y’all think, she may just be weird, that’s very well a possibility.
