A couple days ago, an account was created on Instagram that is almost the same as mine. It has the same profile picture, same name, and the handle is almost the exact same, just with one extra letter. They have no bio, and the one post that they have is a picture of me with no caption.
I reported the account, switched to private, and asked my followers via my Story to please not engage with them and to report the account for impersonation. People did that, and I did too. When I first did it, the account was removed, no problem. The next day, the account was back. I tried reporting again, but Instagram said the account does not violate the “Community Guidelines”. My followers told me they got the same result.
I posted it again on my Story, and just asked for people to report it again and let me know if the account reaches out to them in any way. Is my identity in any danger here? Do I need to worry about them doing anything? Thanks for the help.
P.S. I know I should have been private to begin with, I was just naive and didn’t think it would be a problem.
