[US] Possible fake sd card?

Hey recently I bought a 1 tb SanDisk extreme micro sd card. I got it from Amazon. When it arrived I noticed that it wasn’t sealed in the package. Instead the sd card was taped to it. It also doesnt show up when I plug it in my sd card reader. I have a 256gb one that works with this same reader. So essentially I’m wondering if i somehow got scammed and I need to refund it or it’s my sd card reader that can’t read 1tb sd cards. My sd card reader is just basic one from Amazon that is 2.0.
