[US] How did a scammer from the Philippines know that I received a ticket the day after I was issued the ticket?

I received my first ever ticket for a traffic violation. But, the following day I received a somewhat convincing text (no spelling/grammar errors, cited federal code, etc.) from the “DMV” stating I had only days to pay the ticket or else my registration would be suspended. Ofc the text provided a link the pay. I checked the text’s number and realized the number was from the Philippines, so obviously a scammer and not the DMV.

I am concerned however, as it seems this text message phishing attempt was targeted directly at me per the ticket. How could the scammer know this info literally the day after I received the ticket?

Other than getting the ticket, I had went home and google searched info about tickets & clicked a link to a reddit thread providing info. In the reddit page, i clicked a link to a legit state document detailing the price basis of different violations.

Is there something I should do to ensure my computer activity is not being monitored by scammers, or is it possible that the scammers have infiltrated my state’s ticket database? Help appreciated, thank you!
