[US] elderly parents were scammed out of $1900 + another $10k they were about to send and we happened to talk to them.

We are so upset as we have told them time and time and time again…..

The bank will not call you.

The bank will not tell you your account has been compromised and you need to take out xxx and put it into an escrow account.

The bank will not have you then sent the money to a bitcoin address.

The bank will not tell you to not use your computer the check your account.

The bank will not tell you to not tell anyone.

My husband is LIVID (not at his dad, at these assholes). We have been having these conversations day and and day out every time that we see them. His dad is so worried about scams….and he was just taken.

Thank goodness the place he sent it from had a limit and he has the rest of the cash in hand.

It’s at the point where I feel they need an extra line of protection without feeling like that are losing that sense of control.

I don’t know what else to do. Make big, bold, brightly colored signs to put in multiple areas around the house, by the computer and phones?

So pissed that people do this to the vulnerable population.
