I was reached out by a recruiter for a remote position (soon learned it wasn’t for a real job but some gig work online) to complete tasks that essentially assist with data. I only lost about $30 but this could have been much worse so I’m glad I stopped when I did. They had me complete 3 sets of 40 tasks yesterday where I would upload data for merchants using crypto and I was able to withdraw my pay through my crypto wallet. Today I went to complete the tasks but got a surprise from a task that couldn’t be completed. I reached out to the support team (yes they had a support team, which is one of the reasons I thought they were legit) and support said to talk to my recruiter who wasn’t able to help me either and just explained I need to use more crypto that I didn’t have ($180 of BTC) and then I knew I was got. This wasn’t informed to me yesterday by the recruiter at all.
I should’ve known better, I’m desperate and it got to me.
I have never really posted on here before and I’m not the best writer so I hope this makes sense. I just don’t want anyone else caught up in this and get screwed like me.
