A crucial question to those who are/were in recruitment for ML entry roles.

What exactly do you look for in a candidate that stands out from the rest:

Is it the university and/or degree program they studied? Do you look for unique projects and not the common simple ones? Do you look for the amount of necessary and relevant publications of bleeding edge tech? Others (please comment)

If you have any advice to current students or recent graduates, how would you guide them in a way that they have the chance as everyone else like what should they do during or after their studies?
