I never know what to say when I get a call from someone who is demanding to know why my # showed up on their phone. Idk?

Legitimately curious how scammers are making it so our numbers are showing up as having called other people. Curious what TF it even accomplishes either. Had someone in Texas call me five times in a row and left a voicemail. I finally answered and she was demanding « I don’t know, you called me! Your # is on my phone! » It’s puzzling to me that 1) they’re acting so offended at a phone number showing up on their phone and 2) I truly have no idea what to say to them. WTF. I actually didn’t call you ma’am. « Well your number is on my phone!! »
