So I’m looking for a new hairstylists. Hairstylists typically charge a deposit fee so that doesn’t raise a red flag for me. Last week I paid the deposit fee through Zelle, and I did feel suspicious because the name of the Zelle account wasn’t the person’s name, and they asked me for a screenshot. I risked it but the person never showed up for the appointment and blocked me.
So I’m trying again, and this person asks for the deposit through Zelle, and wants a screenshot of the payment. The name is not there’s, either.
Can someone help me understand this scam? I don’t understand why I need to screenshot and why I’m sending money to a strange account.
