ACCA Membership and Career Opportunities – Seeking Advice

Hi everyone! I became an ACCA affiliate two years ago after completing all my exams, and I’m now working toward completing my PER.

Here’s a bit of context:
I started my career in audit, spending 6 months at a Big 4 firm, followed by 9 months at a mid-sized audit firm. Currently, I’ve been with the largest plantation company in my country (a public-listed, ACCA-approved employer) for the past 10 months, working as a finance executive. My role mainly involves corporate finance tasks—budgeting, forecasting, and bookkeeping.

While I’m learning a lot, there’s a downside. Despite being hired as a junior, I’m essentially handling senior-level responsibilities. Unfortunately, due to a biased Head of Department, I don’t see any real chance for promotion here, regardless of performance. That’s left me feeling disheartened, even though I’m committed to staying until I complete my 36 months of PER.

My questions are:

Once I complete my PER and become a full ACCA member, can I leverage that for a promotion or raise—either within my current company or externally? What kind of opportunities tend to open up after achieving ACCA membership?

I’d really appreciate hearing from those who’ve been in a similar position or have insight into what doors ACCA membership can open. Thanks in advance!
