What I found interesting is that the one person they interviewed saw his phone make it all the way to the ecoATM’s warehouse, then he started receiving !iphone threats from the UK. So, something is fishy at ecoATM with insiders. Likewise, people in this sub have questioned how quickly their phone has made it to China when they started getting threats. It appears that some never leave the US and that’s misdirection.

This news segment investigates how stolen phones end up in Eco ATM machines, which allow people to sell phones for immediate cash. Key points:
Producer Anna Hewson’s daughter had her phone stolen. Anna tracked the phone’s location as it moved around Denver before stopping at an Arvada Walmart, where it was in an Eco ATM machine. Police caution against individuals trying to recover stolen property themselves but helped Anna recover her daughter’s phone from the machine. The investigation found: 358 cases involving Eco ATMs in Aurora over 12 years 383 cases in Denver since 2020 26 cases in Inglewood over 5 years Another victim, Michael Dill, shared his experience of tracking his stolen phone to an Eco ATM, which then went to a Kentucky warehouse. Despite his efforts, Eco ATM claimed they couldn’t locate it but eventually sent him a replacement. Eco ATM machines require ID verification, photos, and thumbprints when selling phones, and the company provides this information to law enforcement when phones are reported stolen. Despite verification measures, prosecutions are rare because it’s difficult to prove that the person who sold the phone was the same person who stole it. Recommendations for phone owners: Record your phone’s serial number and IMEI number Report stolen phones to police immediately Don’t attempt to recover stolen property yourself
