My 44 year old brother is a victim of a romance scam. He’s a little quirky and high up in nascar. He’s met celebrities at his job so he believes it’s real. Last year a profile pretending to be Jamie Presley contacted my brother. They chatted and claimed to be in a relationship since December. In January she was in a accident and needed $40 visa gift card to buy medicine and a heating pad. My brother sent the numbers on the card to her. For Valentine’s Day she wanted a vs gift card for $100. In march she needed 30k for a down payment on a condo in Miami so they could live together. He wired the 30k.
I told him it’s a scam but he doesn’t believe it and claims to have spoken to her. Our mom died last year and he’s spent over 60k of his inheritance on this scammer. How can I get him professional help?
