How quick is full membership after passing your final exam?

Just a general question regarding membership.

I have my 3 years of practical experience and I am in the process of submitting my 9 PER items. I will be sitting my final exam in June and I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on how soon I can apply for membership after passing my final exam?

Could I apply to become a member on the day the results are released or does ACCA contact me inviting me to apply?
